Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She founded The Huffington Post and the director of Thrive Global. Author of over 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a writer and television host, as well as philanthropist as well as the founder and editor of The Huffington Post. She moved out of Greece to England aged 16 where she obtained a MA from Cambridge University in Economics. The first ever foreign-born student to be elected president in the prestigious debating group The Cambridge Union, at age 21 she took over the position. She was an author for a conservative newspaper after her graduation. When The Huffington Post launched a few years after, she created an online platform to voice opinions with a critique of current politics. Arianna was able to attract many prominent contributors to share their views about politics and culture. Arianna became famous after she made the decision in 2003 to become an Independent candidate in the California Recall Election to replace the former governor Davis. In addition, she also spearheaded an initiative in Detroit campaign to encourage fuel-efficient cars. In 2009 she was named by Forbes as one of the top female media personality, taking the 12th place on the listing and the following year Guardian included her in the top 100 of media lists. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post, and she became president of this media group. This included many AOL properties at the time like Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Elli is the daughter of Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, and Elli the other, both of whom are management consultants and journalists. Although she had a close relationship with father, her relationship with her mother shaped the course of her entire life. Even during her formative times, she demonstrated leadership skills for which she is still well-known. When she moved to England, she was sixteen to further her studies and then enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. As a student, she joined Cambridge Union's debate societies in the college where she eventually became its first foreign and female president. Her graduation was in 1972 and she earned the degree of Master's in Economics. After her graduation she became a columnist, critic and a host on TV. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on an episode of Face the music.
