Taylor
Taylor Swift, the rarest pop star, is one who was able to transcend from the country genre to mainstream culture, and has become an idol of the world of pop. The singer also swept all over the world in the process. Swift removed the influences of country as if they were an additional layer of skin, revealing she was one of the best singers/songwriters of the generation she was born into. Swift could make the moment personal or harness it to her advantage. Swift's early tracks like the Neotribute in tribute to Tim McGraw were a testament of her ability. But, her follow-up album Fearless in 2008 showcased the songwriter finding her voice and a wider audience. Fearless became a worldwide hit and not just in the United States (where it was certified six times platinum for the Top Ten Hits Love Story and "You Belong with Me") but in Canada, Australia as well as the U.K. and other countries. Speak Now delivered almost two years later, which consolidated the achievement and propelled Swift to the heights of fame. Through her next three albums, Red (2012) 1989 (2004) and Reputation (2017) Reputation (2017), Swift's popularity grew and she was able to enter a world of pop music with a clear sense of where she was a part of. It was not long before she altered her plan in 2020's more streamlined siblings folklore (and Evermore) and stayed at the top of the charts.
